- Condition: The dryer has detected that an entrance door into the cooling chamber of the dryer is open.
- Alarm Action Taken: SHUT DOWN
- Component: Micro switch w/push button head.
- Location: Mounted at an entrance door leading to the inside of the dryer in such a manner that the door has to be closed and latched to recess the push button head completely to satisfy the switch.
Tools Required for Service:
- Voltage/continuity meter
- #2 Philips screwdriver (wiring terminals inside)
- Small standard blade screwdriver (to open cover)
- Channel Locks (if replacing switch)
- 6’ step ladder
Tech tip: (115 vac circuit)
The DSS (Door Sensor Switch) is mounted on any door that leads to the inside of the dryer, normally into the cooling chamber.
This is for operator safety to have the dryer shut down if someone is trying to enter the dryer while the safety circuit is completed!
(Use caution entering the dryer!! The fans will still be coasting if the door was opened while the dryer was operating. Wait until all sound of the fans rotating has stopped before entering the dryer!!)
Potential causes of this alarm condition:
- Door has been opened on purpose
- Door has accidently vibrated open
- Latching handle out of adjustment or broken
- Switch has come loose
- Faulty switch
