- Condition: Dryer has not received grain in the allotted amount of time set on the “Wet Grain Timer” in the controller.
- Alarm Action Taken: MINOR ALARM
- Component: Rotary Bin Switch
- Location: Mounted in an outer roof panel at top of dryer. Approximately 1/3 up slope from roof eave.
Tech tip: (115 vac circuit)
The rotary bin switch has two sets of contacts each with a common and normally open/normally closed terminals. It receives voltage from the control system whenever the master control relay has been energized. There is usually a jumper from the line in (A1) to the common post (1C) on one of the two set of contacts. The voltage return line is connected to the normally closed (1NC) to complete the circuit and call for grain.
When the dryer is calling for grain, the switch is rotating it’s paddle. When there is enough grain submerging the switch to stall out the paddle from spinning, the normally closed contacts open up and stop the call for grain alerting the controller that the dryer is full.
Tools Required for Service:
- Voltage/continuity meter
- #2 Philips screwdriver (to open cover)
- Small standard blade screwdriver (wiring terminals inside)
- Channel Locks (if replacing switch)
Potential Causes of this Alarm Condition:
- “Wet Grain Timer” value set too low
- Obstruction in the wet grain path to the dryer
- “Hi/Lo” setting inside rotary switch set in wrong position
- Faulty switch or no voltage to switch
